  Fixed Assets

Description:

Cathy Baker of District 2 came up with the idea of posting excess equipment and inventory that was no longer needed by those utilizing it before, but still in working condition, so others in the NMDOT who couldn’t utilize the good before because they did not have the budget can now make use of the good. Every District could post all of their excess inventory on the InTrans website and other employees can search the listings and acquire what they need in their work area.

Many Districts upgrade or replace office furniture, office equipment, and other items that are still in usable condition and either auction off the excess goods or dispose of them. By utilizing the Fixed Assets Program others in the NMDOT can obtain much needed equipment that couldn’t be obtained because of budget issues, and would also save the other District, which had the equipment before, paperwork.

This program can save money for not only those departments who adopt the equipment from another department, but the NMDOT as a whole.

Result:

The E-DOT Bay program is being developed for the NMDOT so District offices and the General office can post and see the excess inventory available. Eventually, it would be beneficial to all state agencies to be able to view available inventory on-line . This process would enable the NMDOT to know which state agency has a need for our surplus inventory. In the future, it would be nice to see the NMDOT with the ability to transfer inventory between agencies.
