Transportation - Are We There Yet?

Renewal of the federal surface transportation programs, which expired September 30, 2009 gives the nation an opportunity to reexamine how we will meet the travel needs of our growing population, expanding freight demand, and updating our aging system. The state transportation officials who work daily to address these challenges have mapped out a vision for the future and a path to achieve that vision.

These comprehensive proposals (many updated in 2010 - see below) underscore accountability, performance, sustainability and smart solutions. AASHTO has developed a series of reports (viewed here) that offer details on these recommendations, as well as an overview, "Creating America's Future Transportation System".
